Image
Here is a recipe for a classic Italian sugo (tomato sauce): Ingredients : 1/4 cup olive oil 1 small onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 pound ground beef 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/4 teaspoon dried basil 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Instructions : Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until it is browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the pot. Stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 30-45 minutes, occasionally stirring, until it has thickened. Serve the sugo over pasta, with grated Parmesan cheese on top. Enjoy!
